Updating Promethean ActivPanel Nickel
In this support video we will be discussing how to conduct a firmware flash on your ActivPanel. A firmware flash is like a factory reset but it also provides the most recent and stable version of the firmware. It’s important to note that flashing your ActivPanel is the last step to fix most issues.
Perform this only when instructed by Trafera support.

Which update do I need?
The Mainboard firmware version on your ActivPanel Nickel determines whether you need only perform one, or both updates. To check the Mainboard firmware version, open the Unified Menu and tap the Locker icon on the dock to display your apps. The Mainboard firmware version is displayed in this window.
If the Mainboard firmware version displayed is 3.1.0.79 or lower, please begin with Update 1, followed by Update 2.
If the Mainboard firmware version displayed is 3.1.0.80 or higher, please proceed directly to Update 2.
Update 1
Please follow the instructions carefully in order to avoid causing damage to your ActivPanel.
- Connect a blank USB 2.0 drive to your computer.

- Do not rename the file, as the ActivPanel Nickel will only be able to update using a file entitled AP7U-Update.zip. Please also check that your computer has not renamed the file.

- Once the file has downloaded to your USB drive, you should delete it from your computer’s Downloads folder.
- To install the update on the ActivPanel Nickel, connect the USB drive to an available USB port, for example the USB port on the front.
- In the Update app, tap Local Update.
